yesterday i noticed that jaxy wasn't looking so good, and today he was dead. he was a good fish, he survived longer than i ever knew pet fish in a tank could. i had an earlier post about him, so some of this may be repeat, but here is the life of jaxy....i moved into a new apartment 5 years ago and it didn't allow any type of animals EXCEPT fish. i decided it was time for a fishtank, so i think i got one for free from my niece and i bought all the stuff for it. jaxy was not originally an only "child" he had 3 tankmates. there was a black fish named "harpo", a chubby orange fish name "fritzie", and a skinny orange fish named "wizzle" and then there was jaxy. he was the smallest and he was black and orange. a perfect combination of them all. harpo and fritzie died within a year, but wizzle and jaxy made the 6 hour move back home with me. they fell of the car seat once and we had to rush into a nasty gas station bathroom to fill their water back up. they were strong. wizzle made it for about another year, but for the past 3 years it has just been jaxy. i don't know what finally did him in, but he is now swimming in fish heaven. i'm not very excited about having to clean out the tank for the last time. it's a lot of work, and this time there isn't even a fish to be happy about his shiny, clean home. i will not be investing more money in more fish, though. i will miss him, but not that much. i mean, geez, he cost 27 cents...it's not like you can just fork that over every 5 years for a new pet! rest in peace jaxy. no flowers, please.

We're bracing ourselves for when our chickens give up the ghost. They have given so much in their short lives.
