four years in four days

four days from now will mark the four year anniversary of the day i bought my first home. i can hardly believe it's been so long.

before i actually moved in to my house, i got all of the windows replaced. because although the house was new to me, it was actually over 50 years old. so it only made sense that the windows that came with the house were crusty, single-paned, painted shut wonders. one of the charms of the little house were the windowsills, they were very wide and i loved them. i was thrilled when the company i hired to replace them said they could make them look just like the old ones, only new. i was very excited to have the shiny new ones. sadly, before they were all installed, the huge living room window, which had to be special ordered, got backed into by a forklift and shattered.

i was very anxious to get moved in, and although i wanted to have everything done before i moved in i didn't really want to wait another 3 weeks for the replacement window to arrive, so i moved in with the old window still in place. the window eventually got replaced and i taped up the new one to get it painted....

well, any of you who have been to my house have probably seen the blue painter's tape surrounding my beautiful living room window. it's been taped now for nearly 4 years because by the time it got put in i was sooooooo sick of painting and eventually i just got used to the blue outline.

well, today i broke out my brushes. my kind, oldest sister gave me some paint she had left over and i painted that darn window. my living room has taken on a whole new life. it's awesome.

four years in four days, and i'm finally home.

Welcome home girl! You are too funny! I don't even know how many unfinished projects I laying around. So good to finish up on something that has been undone. Good Job!

I did that with our kitchen cabinets. I was all gun ho when I moved in and painted the bottom cabinets. And then I didn't want to do the rest. It was like that for 2 years! We finally paid someone to paint them all.

I was going to say, "Where's the picture?" But then I saw the last post and was reminded that you lost your camera. I think just about every home owner has those little unfinished projects. We specifically have some painting to do in the next few months, before it gets cold again and we can't leave the windows open to air it out. We have the paint already, we just have to make the time.

I had the same comment as Andrea...where is the pic...then I remembered "lil red". I'm really hoping you get a new camera soon! I'm coming for the 4th and I am planning to come for a tour of your cute little cottage...so be prepared! Congratulations on finishing your project...you know I'm the worst procrastinator ever so I'm giving you a huge thumbs up! Hope to see you next weekend!
