for any of you who don't know already, this post is just to inform you that the fbi has landed in b-town once again. they are, at this very moment, doing the jobs they are paid big bucks for. what's that? you ask.
finding and saving lost children? nope.
identifying major drug lords and taking them and their products off of the streets? no, not that either.
stopping acts of terror? no, in fact, just the opposite.
hundreds of them showed up before the sun this morning to forcefully raid the homes of the sick, old, fragile, decent, God-loving, respectful citizens of b-town. they are in full force with their machine guns at the ready.
if it was anything like their last visit, on May 8, 1986, they even threatened 3-year-old children with these machine guns. they had infants in tears. they forced small children to flee for safety while their fathers were out making honest livings. when i got the phone call this morning, from a concerned family member, i instantly flashed back to that horrible day when my own mother had to rush to my aunt's home to rescue her infant children from the terrifying team of professionals, putting their skills to use on unarmed women and babies.
and why do they feel the need to play out live scenes from red dawn in our front yards? because apparently there aren't enough missing children to find, drugs to get off the street, pedophiles to curtail. no, they are terrorizing us again because of pottery. they are ransacking peaceful homes and arresting anyone who has a pottery bowl or arrowhead. apparently, only museums ran by government employees are allowed to collect this artform. goodness, everyone who owns a van gogh, monet, or pollock, better watch out...you might be next.
and any members of the nra better watch their backs, as well. right now, as i am typing, just down the street from my house some of the fbi agents are holding the screaming children at bay in the yards, while the rest of them are hauling out gun safes, hunting rifles and family heirlooms by the truckloads. so much for our right to bear arms. man, the undercover agent who was in charge of ratting out the victims of this sting must be feeling pretty proud of his weasly actions today.
i really do feel sorry for anyone out there who was hoping that the fbi was going to help them find their loved one today. they can't help you right now, they're too busy weilding their machine guns in our faces. hopefully i'll be able to post more, but who knows, they may confiscate my computer just for writing this post.
As my grandmother said in a letter to the editor in june of '86:
We seem to have a pardox here, rather than having the government protect the private property of its citizens, the citizens have been forced into the position of having to protect their private property from the government.
here are some of the comments from ksl.com
the universities do exactly what the local residents of blanding do on the weekend except for the universities can do it legally and they usually get grants to cover the costs...in other words paid for by tax payers. not only do the universities dig up the artifacts and "re-bury" them in drawers in the basement of the archaeology department until the drawers are overflowing...they wil generally hold auctions for private collectors to sell many of the artifacts that we paid them to dig up. the public will never be able to enjoy the majority of what is dug up by "legal" gravediggers. the system is a joke. maybe the state should start issuing private archaeology liscences to folks who do a course and pass a test. and then all the weekend warriors could display their findings ina place for all to enjoy and be noticed for their work and contribution. or we could just start throwing everyone in prison for picking up arrowheads and finding the tupperware of people long ago... posted by burtreynolds
i have seen private collections that have left me speechless and in awe for the acient inhabitants. sadly many of you will never get to see them because it has been criminalized to pick up a rock from the desert that nobody would have ever found anyway. it would very benificial to peoples present and past if we came up with a positive solution for citizens to be able to look for artifacts and display them when found without fear of being thrown in jail. besides looking for artifacts is probably more addicting than heroin and once you bend down to pick up your first arrowhead...you better watch out becasue you just tasted a new felonous habit... posted by burtreynolds
And if someone digs up a refrigerator from an old city dump will they be arrested because it's considered an archeological artifact? posted by dr. strangelove
Is one of the perpetrators named Henry Jones, Jr.? posted by tatohead (ha, i think this one is funny)

I don't like archeology, but I do like to babysit. I don't have a license to babysit, but I have a lot of experience and I have been told that I have a talent for working with children. In fact, I even make a little money caring for other peoples' children. However, I am beginning to get really concerned about my future in the babysitting industry. I am concerned because right now, as far as I know, it is completely legal for me to babysit without a degree or college education, but what will I do if the government decides to make a law against that. Afterall, they created laws about pot hunting, and what's more precious, your children or your dishes? Where will the line be drawn? At what point will every action we take be considered illegal? Why don't the majority of the commentors on this website realize that in could be in the very near future that they have a team of armed FBI agents showing up to ransack their houses? And for what? Something that was legal for them to own and sell yesterday? I'm not sure what the solution to the world's problems are, but I can identify situations when excessive force is used and when people are slowly having their rights and freedoms taken away. Go ahead little froggies, sit in that pot of warm water, don't try to jump out, don't try to take any action to preserve your freedom. It will all be over soon.
Really the FBI is doing this crack down. There are a lot more important things the FBI can do rather than worry about some people digging for pots. Who cares if they dig. No one can enjoy the artifacts. Let history be uncovered and let people enjoy what they made 1000 years ago. I think digging for stuff and displaying them is more respect for their culture then just letting the stuff be buried and not being displayed. posted by FEAR
